What a great National Pull! To quote someone who has been involved for years. "It may have been the smoothest we have had." What a great array of hardworking people to make this run so well. We were very proud of how our equipment worked. Willo did an outstanding job at the main desk with charting and Janet (my sister) did a super job of giving the main desk our distance information. Thank you so much to the huge number of people congratulating our crew on the way our end worked. A quick shout out about the outstanding efforts of the children that pulled with us through the year including the Missouri Placers. We had many compliments on how well all of us representing Missouri did. Thanks to my sled crew Ron Baumgartner of South Dakota and John Vossler of Nebraska, and a big assist from Bill VanDeCreek of Kansas lining up the children.
We want to thank the Board of Directors for the National Pedal Pull for allowing us to help with the National this Year (2009) it was an honor to work with some of the very best pullers and children in the Nation. This is the greatest Pedal Pull in the world and the sportsmanship was outstanding on every ones part.
Pedal pulling has grown so much in our time of involvement. What we saw was the new expectation in this event. The best equipment run consistently in serious and spirited competition with the focus on what is, best in and good for children. People now want the best for their kids and the days of one tractor and a drag with a block on it are over. The days of pulling by weight have truly past.
There are people in parts of the country who are making a living by doing pulls. For the majority of folks running these that is hard to believe, but could be possible. The average guy can only run two to three a day and if you have a crew that is expensive not to mention the maintenance of the equipment and truck/trailer. In other words what ever they charge it is really cheap. There are groups charging thousands and if you compare with the National Pedal Pull they don't come close to the excitement and drama. They don't even compare on the equipment side in a year like this one.
At any rate appreciate the folks investing in your children and support your local pullers and state associations.
Kendra and Kayla pulled on the other end at Nationals with Milan Drewlow, president of North Dakota's association and T&T Pullers of Minnesota.

Arguably the toughest girls division ever continued its streak of never repeating a champion as Kayla finished third an inch and a half away from the pull off. Miranda Painter to the right of Kayla collected her third straight second, yet she will be trying for her fourth straight International title next summer, and Jeanette Woolridge had finished fourth and third before capturing her first National Championship.

Ken Myers, Ron Baumgartner of South Dakota and John Vossler of Nebraska operated the North end using Myers Pedal Tractor Pulls equipment. The Old Missouri sign in honor of the Myers group, since Ken was acting as Chairman of Missouri. Interestingly the tractor Ron was looking at was acting up a bit so we did not use it during the pull and yet it would have been just fine but we take no chances at Nationals.
